It all started in 2016 with getting on stage at DCBKK, a conference for digital nomad entrepreneurs. Founder David McKeegan answered an audience member question, but little did he know that would lead him to start a company focused on helping startups and early-stage entrepreneurs with their tax preparation & filings.
Cleer Tax (at the time Greenback Business Services, or GBS) was born out of pure customer demand. It soared to success after becoming a preferred (and long-standing) tax partner to numerous high-profile companies and leading incorporation firms.

After 7 years of dedicated work and unwavering commitment, the team has grown by leaps and bounds. In 2022, Cleer Tax was awarded a coveted spot on the INC 5000 list, recognizing our excellence and growth.

David McKeegan

David McKeegan is the founder and CEO of Cleer Tax. He began the company in 2016 when he saw a need in the market for foreign founders of US startups. David is a seasoned entrepreneur passionate about supporting fellow entrepreneurs in their startup adventures.
His last business, which he co-founded with his wife and exited in 2023, was a world renowned US expat tax business. He is an IRS Enrolled Agent and holds his MBA from the IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain.
A U.S. citizen, David has lived abroad for the past 20 years and is passionate about travel and entrepreneurship.
